Featured Interview With Author L.L. Gray
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I grew up in the cheese-filled wilds of Wisconsin, which might explain my love for a great cheddar. After getting bitten by the travel bug, I’ve bounced around the globe, visiting as many countries as my schedule allowed. Now, I call the vibrant city of Abu Dhabi my home. As for pets, I've got three lizards, eight fish, two spirited kids, and a husband who all keep me on my toes. Let's just say life is never dull!
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Books have been my escape since I was a kid—fantasy books, to be precise. I was that kid who picked up a book bigger than I could carry, got weird looks from adults, and handed more books by the librarian (because librarians are awesome!) I also had an amazing English teacher in middle and high school who nudged me into writing. I took a bit of a detour from writing for a while, but about three years ago, I dove back in headfirst. Now, I've got six children's books, seven novels, and two novellas out in the world, all ready to be devoured by fellow book lovers.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I’m a sucker for clever, fun fantasy of all flavors—epic, urban, dark, romance—you name it. I love reading Jim Butcher, Patrick Rothfuss, Shayne Silvers, Shannon Mayer, and many more. My reading habits fuel my imagination when it comes to writing, along with a hefty dose of mythology (yes, I’m a proud mythology nerd). My stories are also inspired by my life’s escapades, my wild daydreams, and what I’d do if I had real magic at my fingertips.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I'm so excited for this one! Legacy and Lies is the sixth book in my urban fantasy series. Cameron Blaze is on a wild quest to find Solomon's Scroll and honor a deal with a captive djinn. But as usual, things go sideways when Cameron stumbles upon a mystery involving her mother. As the truth about her family's legacy unravels, she’s racing against the clock to find the scroll's secrets before everything goes up in flames. It’s a high-stakes adventure with shadows, magic, and a whole lot of heart. The big question is, can Cameron master her magic before the shadows take over? Time’s ticking!
